Hi there!

I’m Emily, the artist and maker behind True North Lake.

I live and work in Devon, creating each piece by hand from my studio overlooking Dartmoor, an ancient and storied landscape in the south west of England.

It’s a place that invites slowness - wide skies, shifting light, and a quiet sense of space that naturally finds its way into the work.

The Work

I didn’t come to this through a traditional jewellery path.

My background moves between two worlds - a decade in the corporate space, and a decade in art and illustration. Both shaped me in different ways. Both taught me something valuable.

And then, quite unexpectedly, something shifted.

What felt like a quiet turning became a complete reorientation, a return to a life that felt more aligned, more intuitive, more true.

This work grew organically from my personal Kundalini yoga practice. Through it, I learned how to listen; to intuition, to energy, to something both subtle and expansive.

It led me to create pieces that are not only tangible, but supportive. Something that could be worn, held, and returned to as a quiet anchor.

Each necklace is made slowly, with care and attention.

I spend time with the materials, with the mantra, with the energy of the piece itself. It’s not something I rush.

There is something to be gathered in the process.

The Studio

Most days are spent here in Devon.

The studio is simple; tools, crystals, thread, and light.

Sometimes mantra, sometimes silence.

There is always a sheepskin for practice, and an altar that shifts with the seasons.

It’s a quiet, focused space. One that allows the work to unfold without interruption.

Being close to Dartmoor shapes the work in ways I’m still discovering. There is something in the land — ancient, steady, and deeply present — that carries through into each piece.

My Approach

I see this work as a form of making with intention and intuition.

Whether I’m creating a ready-made piece or working on something bespoke, the approach remains the same:

Take the time.

Pay attention.

Create something that feels honest, and in service.

True North Lake is held as a sacred business, guided by principles of conscious creation, care, and responsibility. It is designed not only as a place of making, but as a force for good.

I occasionally share reflections and progress through my Instagram, for those who wish to follow the journey.

A final note

If you choose a piece, I hope it feels like something you can return to.

Something steady.

Something supportive.

Something quietly powerful.

And if you ever feel unsure about what might be right for you, you are always welcome to reach out.
